A Nation bring
by Alisdaire
Age Group: Adult
In that place of Oak, Ash and Rowan
with our hearts heavy and cast down
We dream for not that our land was free
Like barley, Oats or Hazel tree.
We sing of all our ancient Glory
Yield in tales our Father's story
Of when into battles they marched with kind
With Scot's Kings and Noble mind.
To fight the Wars, as Victors pose
against that petaled English Rose
that is a long forgotten dream
thats floated down times vibrant stream.
We are left empty to that ancient song
of Bruce, Wallace and Charlie strong
A Scot's a breed apart from man
that forever awaits their glory stand.
To raise that banner again above their head
giving back the pride, the honour that long has been dead
The brilliant Lion red in raging roar
rebuilding that which the Saxons tore.
Only then shall the old songs join the bells that ring
when we as a people, Scotland, the Nation bring.
