Noli Me Tangere

Noli me tangere
I might shatter
At the trembling in your fingertips
The light behind your eyes
Blinds
You burn
Beneath me
And not for me,
Apollo;
Truth will eventually out,
And there is little room for beauty,
For squalor,
For indulgence,
Then.
How to say,
You're too pale, too soft,
Too beautiful,
Endymion?
Selene lingers,
Crowding out the stars
To brush kisses across your cheekbones
While my face swims on the back of your eyelids.
I spun and flung my arms out
For you
Stumbled
You caught me
At dusk in the forest
Where faeries dance
I only tried to follow them,
Adonis;
I didn't mean to lure you out
Without her
I didn't mean to get you
Alone.
You crushed grapes against my throat
And licked the juice along my vein,
Tasted my pulse
It isn't racing; I'm fine
It isn't you
These aren't tears
I won't regret it
Give me the cup,
Dionysus-
I never regret
Drinking life to the dregs.
No regrets.
Waking up
And seeing you still sleeping,
Brilliance dimmed to marble,
Passion lax and languid,
Vulnerable,
Waiting for a goddess's kiss.
I pull your shirt on and start the coffee,
Lock the door behind me
On the way out.
