The Heart of Men

Age Group: Adult
The life of a man
is one of farce and pain.
The culture of beer,
football, and chasing girls.
Living tough as we were taught
from our forefathers,
afraid to express our hearts.
But there comes a time
when one grows tired of masks,
when a man is confronted
with feelings that are "unmasculine, "
of which they are unprepared to face.
I applaud our sisters, who are freed
from their roles.
But our brothers are trapped
between being tough and being true.
For it is easy to free oneself from being oppressed,
yet difficult to free oneself from being the oppressor.
And men are still trapped
in our viscious cycle
of oppressing the heart.
