This life I live is nearly to its end
Leaving the world without a friend
With the goddess is where I want to be
Away from this world, and all it's insanity
It's time I return to the ultimate being
I'm tired of the lessons; I'm tired of seeing
Watching people destroy one another
Stabbing their lovers', or shooting their mothers'
No one cares about anyone but themselves
There are few who believe in fairies and elves
Those who do are laughed at and shunned out
Leaving me no choice but to have doubt
There’s not much that’s good left here
Broken inside so I shed a tear
We lost ourselves through power and greed
Leaving homeless adults and children to feed
Everyone is lonely, but pushes others away
That's the reason no one can ever stay
Too many people are sick in the head
Leaving too many victims lying dead
If not dead, then their left broken inside
Building up feelings they just can't hide
When will people learn, or even start to care
Nobody said it was easy, or that life was fair
Author's Notes: My poems are posted at poetry.com under my given name, Kareline Guidry. I have written poetry since I was 13 as a way to let out my emotions. It's a release, if you will, a way I learned to control my hurt and anger mostly. There are those of joy too, mostly of my children. I hope people are able to take away something from the words I write, either good or bad. I'm always up for criticism!
