The Ending and The Beginning

The Ending and the Beginning
When it is my time to pass from this life
I pray that my body be returned to the Earth
In the same way she bore me
For she is my Mother who nurtured and sustained me
And when she accepts me unto her, I will be her
She gave me many gifts and I give myself unto her
By submitting to her the flesh
From which my soul radiates
Take this body once my spirit has passed
And place me in the Earth, near a young tree
The Earth will give me the honor to nourish it
I will be one with the Earth and the tree
I will grow strong and tall
My arms will stretch towards the heavens
Behold me in my splendor
Let every being breathe me in
My branches will be loving arms for birds and small animals
My leaves will be warmed by the sun
In the morning, I will be kissed by dew
The winds will make me dance
At night, I will be bathed by the moonlight
I will be shelter and shade by day
The elements are my parents
But my spirit is the tree
