The Balance

by Hazel Silverheart

Age Group: Teen

Death is an essential part of life.
and the Circle always continues-
you cannot have one without the other;
you'll never live forever.

Without death, there would be no life-
Our crops would wither and perish.
If no one ever died, we would overpopulate
even more than we already have.

The butterfly, the kangarroo, the fire ant-
All have their place in the spiraling circle.
If one steps out of line, the balance
is gone and they will eventually die.

Death is a natural part of life,
And we are like any other.
Our intelligence gives us responsibility
that we have shirked and done nothing to fulfill.

Human beings are just like the ants,
the trees, the flowers, the fish.
When we grow to much
the balance is tipped,
and we will eventually die.

And we will never rise again?
And we will never rise again?

Author's Notes: An episode of Full House inspired this when grandpa Papouli died. All of us- even the non-pagans- need to realize that if we don't stop breeding NOW, we will continue to decimate and ruin the earth just out of sheer size. We can't save the environment (but I'll sure give it one heck of a shot!) because we need so much SPACE! Not just for us; for farmland. Cows, horses, geese, ducks, chickens, corn, beans, ect... We have to stop breeding. It's easy... Go get a visectomy. Go get your tubes tied. Use condoms and birth control responsibly if you don't want to. Instead of helping our race to become even more overpopulated, adopt a poor child waiting to be rescued from poverty! Do something. Do SOMETHING.
