Sun and Storms of Childhood

Age Group: Adult
The sun upon my face is warm,
As I lay here on the sand,
In the distance I see a storm,
Moving fast across the land.
Soon it will be before my soul,
With anger raging upon me,
A struggle to remain a whole,
I will be swallowed by the sea.
Slowly I will sink below,
As the water will comfort me,
My heart and mind will start to slow,
The warm sun a pleasant memory.
One last time I will close my eyes,
As the storm silently completes,
I'll hear my mother as she cries,
Over my head she pulls the sheets.
I will not fear the coming dark,
For the storm can't touch me there,
On my soul the sun did mark,
Its love, both warm and fair.
