Summer Rain

Age Group: Adult
Its getting darker and darker
the wind picks up
A howl of wind shutters the windows.
Another burst and energy streams from the sky
as it opens the flood gates to let out some water.
The water pounds the ground
As it shakes and rumbles the earth
Nourishing it with nutrients,
Quenching the thirst of every living plant.
The ground, yet dry, seems to just become water logged.
As the water sits on-top of the harsh dry earth
Waiting for the granules to absorb the water.
Flooding out now, becoming a pool
Creating a bath for the local birds and ducks
As they come out from the wood to bath
in natures cleansing rain.
Suddenly then it stops
The clouds seem to part
Making way for beautiful light coming from the sun.
As the ground steams and evaporates the left over water;
The ground can catch up and absorb the leftover pools.
Fading back now, into the ground until the next...
Summer Rain.....

Author's Notes: I wrote this poem in moments during a Summer Rainstorm. I was just suddenly driven to write. So I wrote it to my very good friend Ravenlight, then saved it for now. I hope you enjoy reading, as much as I have.
