I am as safe
in this waking world
As my parents
are safe in their graves.
The turning wheels -
can you hear their song -
Such lovely music -
beneath your fingers?
On a wire
'twixt grave and cradle,
I am dancing -
what is there to fear?
We cannot know
where we are going -
clutching, clinging
to the turning wheel.
Time after time:
once! twice! a third time!
Blow After Blow -
calling... compelling...
What do you fear?
What do you believe
Awaits you if
your death-grip fails you?
You'll never know
that place of safety
while you keep screaming,
clutching to the wheel.
