Prayer

O Lords of all the Elements,
Spirits of the cardinal Gates,
I pray you hear my voice;
Come, lend your power to my circle,
And witness this simple rite.
In return I offer of myself
Whatever I can give that You
Deem worthy of your greatness.
Welcome Lords of Earth,
I greet thee and thine.
Grant me strength of solid stone
To make my way in life,
Courage to hold out another day
Whether peaceful or with strife.
Welcome Lords of Air,
I greet thee and thine.
I seek the freedom of the breeze
To traipse around the world,
Show me how to breathe peace in
And go out, my sails unfurled.
Welcome Lords of Fire,
I greet thee and thine.
Help me tame the fires within
Threatening to ruin my sanity,
Let my passions take their place
Enhance my creativity.
Welcome Lords of Water,
I greet thee and thine.
I pray you'll ease my aches and pains
Drain away my woes,
Take me down the river of life
Flowing swiftly past my foes.
I thank you Lords and Spirits,
for hearing my humble plea,
I only pray that you might favor
My requests and also me.
Author's Notes: It's not quite how I prayed originally, since I've left out some of the repetition, but the meaning is still the same. My diagnoses of chronic daily migraine and fibromyalgia are what I'm really talking about here, but it applies to anything in life, whenever problems arise.
I was flattered when I was contacted by a complete stranger who asked if she could take this to a printer and make a fancy wall-hanging of it. Of course I said yes.
