Tempest Smith

You're of a different faith
You're on a different path
They fear what's different
They scorn you and laugh.
A life can be ended
By words carelessy spoken
What is not the same
Will eventually be broken.
You didn't deserve it
But they tore you down
Tore out your heart,
Death was the escape you found.
I'm sorry they hurt you
I'm sorry no one cared
I wish I could've saved you
But the damage can't be repaired.
Your own life you ended,
Taunted and riddiculed
Your soul went dark
You can't come back ever
Since that fateful day in winter,
Your eyes have closed forever.
To our Wiccan sister,
Tempest Smith,
You will never be forgotten.
Author's Notes: Tempest Smith was a real girl. She killed herself in Lincoln Park, Michigan on Febuary 20, 2001. It was directly caused by the people who mocked her for being a Wiccan.
