Death Guard

Age Group: Adult
I am the soul survivor
as I trespass on through time
materialized evolution
like a sentinel defined
standing guard over passages
so dark they bear no light
peering as they rest so peacefully
unknowing of their helpless plight -
Soldiers lost on battlefields
or pirates lost at sea
I am the ghost that stands this post
as grim as that may be
yes their death it does surround me
as in life they stood so brave
trading honor for a unjust cause
so deep down in their graves-
but their death it does hold valor
and their deeds are not yet done
to fight on the final battlefield
when they join the force as one !
They shall arise and their death awaken
as their spirits as one unite
to march in war just as before
and their souls as one ignite ...
comrades on the warpath
with dragons heart they'll fly
resurrected in defiance
to right their fight to die
their numbers insurmountable
no force shall know their fate
to fight the fight until its end
and to rid the world its hate !
Author's Notes: I worked hard on this one - but as always its so enjoyable when the poem comes together and one can be satisfied of the message that it states ...
This poem shows my feelings on the world today
that dying on battlefields and fighting to the death
for others and what they believe holds consequence
as in you may win a battle but never the war -
for those that die today - will never really rest in peace
because in truth - some spirits refuse to die !
