Moonlight
by Daughter of the Earth
Age Group: Adult
Moonlight softening a summer sky
Glowing with an iridescent light
much kinder than the harshness of the sun
which beats down incessantly with the glaring light of day
The moon is different, more serene
Granted, its gentler light makes it more difficult to see,
but everything seems perfect in this shadowy world
Besides, who needs to see?
One can hear the crickets chirping and the cicadas hissing,
feel the dew on your skin as you roll through cool, wet grass
taste the freshness of the outside air, unpolluted by the smog of day
Imagine, all these senses usually get blocked
in the human rush to see everything
No one stops to smell the flowers or just the sweet air
or hear the birds sing their unique songs
busy, busy, run, run, run
The night is slower, steadier, more relaxed
People don't rush, probably because they can't see where they're going
Maybe this is why we wish upon stars...
They, like the moon, are always there,
always shining.
but not with enough light that we can see where we're going
Just with enough to provoke new thought, new dreams, new ideas
The moon's gift is imagination
No more, no less
The next question is., ,
