Persephone's Confession

Persephone's Confession
Despite my fear,
my reluctance,
and seeming icy stance
to your intense advances,
I cannot hide
from a truth I know so well...
That it was you
who brought me to womanhood
in my dreams.
That first blush as
you swept me under
your wing at the river's
dauntless edge or that
first gentle, tentative kiss
from such warm and inviting lips...
You had me in your snare,
but fear constrained that
which I could not freely give...
Pomegranate juice's bloody hue
stains my lips as I make my choice.
These momentary tears of doubt
that course down my face cannot
compare to the sensuos joy
of your dark embrace.
Come my dark Prince and claim your prize!
