My New Year's Day Wish (2006)

Age Group: Adult
Though I find it hard to celebrate
When the Earth is in such pain,
There are Blessings that occur to me and
You might have the same.
My fire is lit, the house is warm,
A roof lies o'r my head,
When I lie me down to sleep tonight
T'will be in mine own bed.
My belly's full of pancakes sweet,
Hot coffee in my cup.
I write upon a 'puter 'chine
Communicating all that'sup.
No bullet holes or scars have I,
No knife wounds full of pain,
No holes through walls that barely stand,
No child dying with my name.
I've protection from the rain and snow,
Protection from the shark,
Protection from the Beasts that roam
Too hungry in the dark.
I hear no sounds of bombs outside,
Or gun shots to alarm.
My joy's that I can walk outside
Fearless around my farm.
So, though it is hard to celebrate,
I still feel very blessed.
My only hopeful New Year's wish,
Is for the same for all the rest.
Please country which I love so dear,
Please stop the course you run.
Reverse the evil cards you deal
And, see us all as One.
Allow the world to breathe a sigh
Of great relief at last;
And, care for those who need your help
As Jesus always asked.
Not from the knives, nor bombs, nor guns,
Nor hunger, nor from Greed
Of Others should a person die,
But from age or infirmity.
We all must leave this wondrous orb,
When our time has come at last.
But, 'til that day, we all must build
Our future from our past.
May the New Year Bring Earth Hope and Peace
By a Change in the current plan
Towards a Wiser Future, to Restore
The Dignity of Man.
