Flicker
by Soaring
Age Group: Adult
I soar, I glide, I flicker,
I fly through rushing trees and whipping wind,
I am soaring, gliding, flying,
Rushing toward something,
Something important,
Something incredible,
But until I meet my destiny,
I will continue to soar,
While running trees seem to skirt around me,
And the wind whips my face into bright colors,
I adore the feelings, the sensations,
The rush of flight is intoxicating,
A flicker of the wind,
Nothing more than a passing thought,
Unheard of, unknown to all but me,
I am the master of all,
Queen of my domain,
For just a little while,
I jump into the air, kicking, fighting,
Reaching into that place that holds the key,
The key to all that I live for,
The thing that haunts my dreams so beautifully,
Soaring, rushing, gliding through the air,
Nothing but a flicker, a flicker of thought,
Of peace that truly invades even the darkest of places,
And in such a glorious manner,
That you can't help but embrace it's beauty,
This is what I live for,
This is the thing that haunts my dreams so beautifully,
And what is it, but a flicker?
Author's Notes: I would like anyone and everyone who reads this piece to know that I truly, and I mean truly, poured my soul into it. It was completely spur of the moment, inspired my an e-mail I recieved about one of my other poems. Please, be careful of this treasure- it is, quite simply, me. Me in a way I didn't know was possible.
