Small
by Soaring

I am small.
I am weak.
I am a deteriorating soul,
A soul that has no place on this earth,
Or even elsewhere.
I am so insignificant,
That even those things which touch my skin constantly
don't notice their action,
Because the feeling does not register
within their fragile nerves.
So small am I that air slices through me,
Like I am nothing more than another form of itself.
So tiny am I that ants look down and cannot see my body.
But am I truly that small?
Or is this an illusion I have created,
Unable to see my own soul,
and afraid, so afraid of being anything more,
than the comfortable absolute I have placed myself within,
Even so low as that is.
So is it I who is small, or is it my perception,
That lacks veritable idea,
A twisted version of reality,
A side of something unreal,
But so real that it can be felt in front of your face,
The cold wind brushing your hair back
away from your body,
Raising bumps on your skin,
mountains of feeling,
A nervous energy.
So I remain small,
until someone or thing should notice my being,
And tap gently into a confidence that did not formerly exist.
