A High, Thin Note
by Soaring
Age Group: Teen
I high, thin note pierces the air,
And the wind takes it in hand,
Carrying it to unknown places,
Heard in the ears of people far away
from it's origin,
and from all it knows,
Yet it is not afraid,
It is glad to travel,
And to be known by others so completely,
Completely because it is but a note,
A simple composition of sound.
A sound that eliminates other, stronger beats,
And drowns them out.
How does this happen?
It isn't a question of what this high, thin note does of itself,
But rather of what we, as listeners, make of it,
And how closely it registers to us,
As people.
