Alone...for now

Age Group: Adult
4 years, all the tears,
Do they care? What they have they'll never share.
I want to be wanted,
But when I walk down the long, lonely halls
They run from me like I'm haunted.
What's wrong with me?
Am I that scary?
Some people say you get used to being alone,
But I want someone to love me and put me on a throne.
I'm not shy OR outspoken,
For fear of my heart being broken.
Some think I'm a joke,
A blob to be laughed at,
They say i'm dumb and fat.
At night I sometimes cry myself to sleep,
My mother hates me and always comes home and weeps.
She says I'm a mistake,
And that I'm the result of
A man's cheap condom that brakes.
But wait, there's an answer.
Something to relieve my torture.
Slowly I walk to the kitchen,
Full of dishes and last night's chicken,
I reach for the knife with a slow yet determined strife.
I slide the blade over my wrists,
praying for the courage to press down...
But..."Not yet, " I say.
"I have much to do tomorrow and today."
No, life's not perfect, it's not supposed to be.
But one day someone will come for me,
Man or woman, I'm not sure now,
But today I make a vow...
I-refuse-to-be-Alone...
Author's Notes: This is a poem I wrote the night I contimplated killing myself, and the little pep talk I gave myself to make me snap out of it. This is very close to me. I hope you enjoy it.
