Music Unheard

by Amanda

Age Group: Adult

The witching hour strikes
The world is silent
Two women dance to music unheard
As the full moon shines down
Subtle differences are seen
As they dance on to music unheard
Their dance is so beautiful
Almost a taboo to be seen
They weave in and out
Never touching
Though coming closer with each pass
Never touching
The pattern they weave is intricate in detail
A dance older than time
One is lithe, tall, and fair in every movement and feature
Two is lithe, short, and dark in every movement and feature
While one is all angles
Two is all curves
They dance on to music unheard
Their differences compliment each other
Though still all ways clashing
They are both beautiful in their sky clad dance
One sheds light as a snake sheds its skin
Two draws in the light
Then gives off a nether worldly glow
As they dance to music unheard
They get closer and closer
As the music unheard speeds up
They move faster and faster
Closer and closer
With each pass they come closer to crashing
Though each time they never touch
Then abruptly they stop
Turn towards you the unseen watcher
They open their eyes for the first time
You look into their fathomless depths
Trapped in their hypnotic gaze
Two voices at once and yet not at once
Echo in your mind
I am the first goodness
I am the second evil
Why do you dance together?
We are not two but one
Separated only by Your mind
Is the echoed reply
Then they are gone
The discordant yet lovely sound of the world
Encloses on your mind louder than it ever was before
A drum beats but it is only your heart
A bell tolls but it is only your watch
Only an hour has flown by
You catch a hint of haunting refrain
That is the music unheard
It is burned into your soul
Never to be forgotten
The music unheard
Life
