Once upon a crucifix...

by Arianna Pendragon
 Age Group: Adult

I carry this burden alone, Pain crawling its way up my legs and into my soul, Stinging misery enters the wounds on my back, In the cuts and scatches from your whip.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You rush up from behind and kick me down, As the innocent bystanders watch in horror, As you turn their savior into a wimpering dog, And all i can say is "Don't worry brother, I forgive you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I finally reach the top of the hill, I drop my sactuary at your feet, You look at me in disgust, And spit in my face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I collapse from exhaustion and angst, Then you drag me, Across the jagged stones and blistering hot sand, And as I scream out in pain, You lie me down on my refuge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Palms up, Sweat dripping, Blood pouring, You place the nail on my wrist and with a heavy stroke, It plunges into my flesh, Kissing my veins with black lips.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Laughing at the misery you've already put me through, You nail in my feet, And place my crown of thorns upon my trembling head, And with your final blow, The thorns caress the torture of my love for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the clouds start to come in and the sky begins to cry, The crowds of humble followers start to disperse, I see the clouds part and down floats my lady, Smiling, she comes to me, and kisses my bloody forehead, Runs her fingers through my crimson caked hair, And says a gentle "Thank you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then as I feel my breathe quicken, And My soul starts to stretch toward the sky, She wraps her shimmering and warm arms around me, And carries me to a better place.
 Author's Notes: This was mainly based upon a reaccuring dream I've been having. I can only assume that the "Lady" that comes for me is my goddess. I don't really understand why I'm portrayed as a Savior, Jesus, messiah type person, but the dream in itself, is very intense and almost beautiful. I don't consider myself a christain in the least, so that image of a messiah was rather confusing for me. Let me know your thoughts on this.
