Weird Kid

I wish there was more
that I could do,
to give more freely
so that you'd not be blue.
The droop of your mouth,
that trembling little pout,
brings worry to my heart
as tears are squeezed out.
The flush of your face;
with those huge sweet eyes,
makes my heart drop
with the rushing of cries.
Ah my child! Your pain I hear so great!
Please don't cry,
you put me in a state!
Come here to me
and within my loving arms,
let me see your sparkle -
that heart-stopping smiled charm.
Here, let me kiss
that terrible big ouch
and sit in my lap
on our big, warm couch.
Come to mommy,
yes, do be a dear
and let me kiss away
those sweet baby tears.
Now listen to me
and listen very well
if this keeps on happening
soon you'll begin to swell!
Stop this silliness,
you crazy little kid!
Your head is not a jar;
your hair is not a lid!
Please leave the banister
just as it is
don't put your head 'tween the bars
and try to take a spin!
And tried as she might
she just couldn't resist
those banister bars
that made her want to twist.
I really don't know how
she made it to her age
'cause every time she got caught
I'd always be in a rage.
But she made it, it's true
a truth that is so bald
'tis no longer me she cries for
but now a carpenter is called!
