The Dragon Awoke

The dragon awoke
and scorched a trail
of passion -
deep and bruising,
along flesh unused
to hard places
and piercing claws.
The dragon awoke
and tore through
soul's mirror convulsing
with terror's heart
and piercing
the darkness
with a red glow.
The dragon awoke
and was bound
to love's call,
trembling in surrender
and chained by desire
finding a new path
without his treasure.
The dragon awoke
with empty claws,
a broken heart,
a sodden soul
and a life once lived
in freedom found
chained to the wall of Life.
