I could've sworn
you almost killed me
with your continued lies
of love and honor
when you had none
as you slipped under
and into someone else
all the while with me.
You gave me no room
for thought but to hold
onto something that never
was there nor ever
would be.
Strange how our lives
become distorted
at the thought of loss
and we scramble to do
whatever we can,
at whatever personal cost
so that we don't lose
what we never had
nor ever could.
So now, we each
have become
security blankets in
hate and distrust of
past presence yet
soluable solutions to
each another as we
slide against treaties
of surrender
only to find that there
was nothing ever there
nor ever could be,
for love had left
the building at the moment
we said,
"Hello".
