I've known you before
in lost times beyond
marshes of mysts; before
there were times met
in hallowed ground;
before the sword carried
gave us truth and honor.
I've known you before
when the beating of drums
carried war's curse
upon the winds of change;
before the death dirge sang
in blood met and seeping.
I've known you before
when I lay beside you
at night and breathed air
of greenery, salt and dirt,
knowing the sky was ours
at dawn's first light.
I've known you before
as the fires of the world
captured those lost creatures
and set them adrift on
the seas of space and time,
as we were bound for our own
transformation.
I've always known you before,
as I do now and as the wheel
turns, I will know you
again...
