A Home

This building is supposed to protect you.
Keep you safe and warm from the storms of outside.
But the storm that rages from within leaves you wanting to flee.
The warmth is gone now and is replaced with a chill of indifference.
Safety moves out and a beast digs in.
Windows that had shined with pride are now blinded with rain.
Mighty oak beams that were once strong are now splintering with weakness.
They say a home is where the heart is but when the heart dies a home turns into death itself.
Author's Notes: Some of my poetry is pretty dark. Only because when I am going through a rough patch, I sit down with paper and pen trying to get the feelings out. I always feel much better after wards.
