All is Well on Gallows Hill

by Faen
 Age Group: Adult

A look to the past, Will reveal the loss. Nineteen lives, The greatest cost. Hallucination, Mistaken for curse- Barley crop, A poisoned purse. Community kills, Atop Gallows Hill- In God's name, Doing his will. Justice forsaken Everyday until- All is well On Gallows Hill.
Author's Notes: I would like to convey my deepest sympathy to those who continue to lose family members due to situations beyond thier control. I would also like to dedicate this peice to the most obvious people: Bridget Bishop, George Burroughs, Martha Carrier, Martha Corey, Giles Corey (only accused, never convicted, which is why he is not usually included in the count) , Mary Easty, Sarah Good, Elizabeth Howe, George Jacobs Sr., Susannah Martin, Rebecca Nurse, Alice Parker, Mary Parker, John Proctor, Ann Pudeator, Wilmott Redd, Margaret Scott, Samuel Wardwell, Sarah Wildes & John Willard.
I use the "Ergot of Rye" theory here, it seems to fit best in my opinion. You are entitled to yours as well. And, yes I am aware I wrote Barley, when the "infection" was from rye. I used a little artistic licence.
Personally, I do not feel this peice is finished. Eventulally I hope to go to Salem and be closer (physically) to those involved. This may trigger that all-important inspiration so I can be fully pleased with the "finised" work. ( I actually dropped four lines to make this version work...)
Anyway, I graciously thank you for reading my poetry, and these notes. Feel free to e-mail me with your comments & questions. I would greatly appriciate your feedback...
Blessed Be!
