Crystal Dream

Age Group: Adult
Crystalline valleys of rose, sapphire and deep hued violet
Carved into bridges hewn into a cliff face.
Bridged to fifteen, yet fountained to all and beyond.
Garnering strength, I climb.
Led my unseen hand, my child follows
Sliding and splashing along each bridge.
Reaching the fifteenth, am presented with
The cliff face: In the future,
The Path Taken: in the past.
Looking back I view the paths taken -
The emotions flowing
The past deepening into a lake.
I look to the hand that has led me hence.
Hand to wrist to arm to shoulder and again
To neck to face.
Stunned by the visage and frightened by my feelings
I turn to run to the end of the bridge
Only to run, face first - into the cliff wall.
Hand-holds and foot-holds to urge me upwards
Turn to flat rock upon each touch.
Knowing the uselessness of the situation,
I turn to face my reality.
With trepidation and strength of conviction,
I begin the quest of my heart.
