I watched clouds that day
washing every blue-lit wonder from northwest
to southeast
dancing their hellos to dark sunshines
and warm-tipped lips
lain in the field where the caress of breeze
became your hands
my back arched for the tickle
to lick my skin piercing cottons
waiting in burgeoning ache
it was a boundless ecstasy
to lay there and know that your flesh
met in mine a fire that only the earth
underneath me would ever whisper,
could ever swoon in
cradled there, I was in the dance
of sky and cloud, pressed into earth
as I tasted the climax of summer
a transcendent fusion,
even now I am laced tightly to my need of you
as the sun warms me
questing fingers stream playful
as earth and I are indivisible
