Back and Forth..

What seems like long ago
a connection was made -
little did I know how deep...
with each cut to his flesh
are marks against my skin;
his screams echo
and are my nightmares;
his anger - a raw fury
is a driving force in my life;
he hurts and I did this.
Long ago the call was answered
to what depth I now can hear....
with my growing frustration
he stutters his words;
my utter silence
is his road to panic;
my devastating heartbreak
is his damning calmness;
I hurt and he did this.
At its inception
the relationship bloomed,
growing in its intensity and passion
only to burn -
hard and fast;
singeing our hearts and souls
while destroying our future.
We both hurt and did this,
and while a part of me will always love him
it is best that our paths part....
