Blessed Yule

Blessed Yule
On this night of long nights
When great Earth Mother sleeps
Souls 'round Yule fires
Earth wide will meet
Hoping to rejoice o'er the returning sun
To lengthening days, one by one
Gaia does slumber, but deep within
Her womb does bestir, life yet begun
Seedlings of hope, glimpses of light
Hold promise of what's to be
Sprouts of life shall kindle soon
And shall blossom symbolically
Yes, this night is the longest, as we can see
Full oak moon hanging surreptitiously
In the night sky so high above,
Encouraging all creatures with Artemis' love
Bards from the east, west, north and south
Artists and singers and poets implore
In song, in notes, and in words they speak
All life depends on reincarnation once more
The Oak King will triumph, while the Holly King wanes
Join hands in strength for no life comes without pain
From the stress of rebirth Gaia does strain
But her time is not yet, her rest yet remains
We often hear said "As above, so below"
The harvest is done, but 'tis not time to sow
This dormant time is meant for rest
To enjoy thy bounty, to feather thy nest
It's Yule time again and soon we'll see
This year will be gone as the Yule log's embers
But lessons we've learned
The wise one remembers
So let us dance the Spiral Dance
'Round this wintry symmetry
Loving, living, turning, weaving
Life's magical tapestry.
