Hope awakened
by Cee Are
Age Group: Adult
Hope awakened
and hurriedly gathered to her mouth
the few crumbs
left to her
fallen from the other's
sated feast
of
pleasure
for hardly anyone but one
Not Enough ! she cried and wailed
in a voice that everyone
pretended not to hear
A strange cry , a wail
, a scream
muted strangely
it should have
woken anyone
moved mountains
broken hearts
anything but silence
Hope had been used to
very short rations
but having been invited to the feast
and told
she
was
loved
she really needed to feel more
than crumbs passing her lips
Yes ( she thought ) I know you all need
reassurance and a lot more
but why can't I have a little
enough to live ? please ?
