All the while still in love with you
Alone in the dark in bed by your side
Afraid to touch you
for fear of pushing you away
Cautiously curious about coldness
Not understanding why
I reach out in the dark
To embrace the the pain of being
hurt by you
All the while still in love with you
The pain of wanting you
and being shoved away
The pain of the horror I feel
At finding I've hurt you by loving you
The pain of hearing you say
that I don't know what your pain is
The pain of you asking if I will
now put you out
All the while still in love with you
Exploring in the dark
one another with words
My regret that you don't really want marriage
or a baby girl, well, maybe,
Your fear of being trapped in
Detroit without me
Your fear of being trapped with me
My fear of being alone again
Your fear of never being alone again
Your need for emotional affection
My need for physical affection
All the while still in love with you
Suddenly unsure if my love for you
If your love for me means any thing
to you \ me
Being ashamed of not thinking
Of you because I feel hurt.
Reaching for reassurance in the dark
Finding in our feelings a will
To live and love for the moment
Leaving tomorrows problems
till tomorrow.
We love each other now
We hope it will be enough
Drifting off to sleep
After having enjoyed
The sweet honey - musk
Of your lips again
( I can never get enough )
I wish that you and I can learn
Each other's trust for these
Next few steps towards
A love that can last
Longer than all our
Tomorrows
