A dream intrudes

Age Group: Adult
A dream intrudes on daylight
Or was it a dream?
A visitation perhaps?
I've been imagining
How we will meet
Again so often I can
Almost see it
Will you run to me?
Will you open the door and there I am?
Will I turn and see you?
Will I run to you?
I imagine we will see each other
In the distance in the same instant
And will walk towards each other
Ignoring obstacles and looking steadily
At each other, matching memory against sight
Looking in vain for changes in our appearances or feelings
Grasping hands we hold each other apart
Just gazing to fill our eyes with one another
Slowly gathering each other in, pressing closer
Enfolding us in our arms, perhaps a tear
Or two of joy spilled upon shoulders
Then a tentative almost shy kiss which turns very passionate
Then arm in arm we
Proceed to begin again
