Hope Arrives

Age Group: Adult
Hope Arrives
Hope arrives amid tumultuous splendor
massed crowds raising many voices
hailed exuberantly and repeatedly acclaimed
Hope runs rampant through the crowds
raising expectations, strengthening dreams
She is revered, praised and given freely
her fill of accolades and realized moments
She seems invincible
Yet, this is impossible
Only a short while ago
Hope was a scrap held to tearfully
insignificant against the dark
machineries of avarice
Just a forlorn little hope
Hardly able to light a candle stub
Scarcely able to mouth the
crumbs of crushed aspirations
Yet the people of the land
brought their treasured bits
wan and dusty or new and hidden
And they brought them together
and shared them
allowed all these bits to see the light
of the sun, the moon and the stars
Allowed all their hopes to be seen
Strode forth emblazoned with all their hopes
Dreams so basic, decent and universal
Hope is mighty now
She has found in Chaos
the gift of Unity
Yet for all that
She remains
simply
Hope
Treasure, sustain and
Share yours
Together, even small
hopes loom vast.
