I Welcome Death

I welcome you,
Curer of all ills,
Ender of all pain,
Clearer of all schedules,
And bringer of the final sleep.
Your name is death,
And I fear you not,
For our meeting was inevitable
Since the day I took my first breath.
Now you bring my last breath,
And I’d rather think of you friend than foe,
For who wishes to leave this world,
In the arms of an enemy.
Author's Notes: When I wrote this I intended it in no way to be depressing. This is merely a poem about the acceptance of death as the natural inevitable ending of us all.
