Lonesome Dove

As she sits perched in a tree,
Her lover cries on bended knee.
As he cries the dove cries too,
Now whatever will he do?
Lover gone he feels only pain,
On sunny days he feels the dismal rain.
He lost his soul as she died that day,
He wants to make the killer pay.
To curse the disease that caused her end,
She was his best and closest friend.
If only he knew the trruth of his one true love,
She sat right there . . . The Lonesome Dove.
Author's Notes: I saw this scene when I lost someone close to me. I smelled her perfume when the dove landed in the tree above my head, and none of us could figure out where the smell was coming from. So I was convinced it was the dove carrying her spirit to another afterlife.
