October Twenty-first Spiral

Age Group: Adult
Shadows play against the light
darkened corners bare
against a cacophany of note
cackling spines a withering glare.
Autumnal measures flow
bearing tribute to the Goddess
Rainment crimson and burnt fire
dancing whirlwind of air.
And to the spatial area
the door to the past closes
as the gateway to the future opens
hesitant steps to the threshold
I jump.
Spiraling downwards
twisting pliant being
graceful movement of ephemeral light
a spark against darkened spines -
flaming tool for Her path.
In birth I am Her child
born of flame and flesh
a being of sight and sound
the beacon for those not found.
In death I am Her child
made of soot and ash
returned to what I was
before October twenty-first.
