Take My Hand

Take my hand...
a foot or two,
know that I can feel
what's wrong with you.
I am here
within your space
to heal your heart
- maybe even put
a smile upon your face.
I have been there,
where you are;
those long nights of tears
and refrigerator wars.
Dreadful days
of interminable hours
plodding and dragging,
sapping your powers.
Not knowing where to go
or whom to turn to,
you can turn to me -
a friend who cares for you.
I will lift you up,
crate your ass here and there
and crack your ribs
with no time to spare.
Cracking jokes
and being a pain
I'll annoy the hell out of you
and bear your strain.
And soon you'll find
what you never before thought
you're standing upright
facing a new future you'd never sought.
So, come take my hand
let me lead you down the path
to laughter and healing
or else feel my wrath.
'Cause I know how you feel
and wish not to go there again,
so I'll drag you kicking and screaming
just because I love you, you idiot -
You're my friend!
