Dragons Speak

by Talitha Ruatha
 [WVox Sponsor]
 Age Group: Adult

Dragons speak and dragons tell of life with humans and getting on very well.
They tell the stories - like when Tom Miller got mad at Brian the Baker for being a cad…
Or life in the forests and mountains galore like when Mistress Vixen was once called a whore!
Ah! Stories of old! And those not yet seen! Stories to live by, and stories of dreams.
Who knew what madness would be seen when those Humans got wise and invented the pen?
Stories and stories grew bolder each day - of how dragons would devour whatever they may.
So dragons be dragons, they took it so far.. ‘til one day written madness found death’s open door!
The dragons were dying, extinction upon their race - The human beings were winning with quill & ink upon their face.
Those nasty humans! They wrote with such glee! Finding dragon death so fun, that one would have to pay a fee!
Until one day, Grand Dragon appeared, Called council to those left; Gave the judgment as feared:
"We’ll fight now, my friends, Fight unto true death! To hell with those humans! We’ll send ‘em there with our breath!"
And so it all started, the fighting so fierce! Death ruled both sides - so deadly…it brought tears!
And then one night, when darkness reigned supreme.. Golden flying lights o’er the countryside were seen…
Elven they came, Riding white steeds.. Bearing magic cups a-plenty to those dying or in need…
“Hush..” said those fae folk “No more of this madness… you’re killing each other and the Lady cries in sadness”
“Take away those swords and the breath that kills… Live lives separate from each other Those here and in the hills”
“The Lady cries deeply her tears fall like rain, which of thee has the courage to stop this hurting pain?”
A human woman stepped forward, One dragon male, too... A bond made in the darkness of which there is no clue….
Yet, dragon blood stopped pouring; and the dragons began to thrive. Death’s door had been left ajar and humans were glad to be alive.
So what is the moral of this story? Come closer! I’ll give you the head’s up.. Humans! Never argue with a dragon For you are crunchy and good with ketchup!
