She-Wolf

Pads upon leaves
crunching in the dark,
muscles tensed and waiting..
Suddenly!
Springing from foliage,
the dark lithe shape
reaches out
to run!
Run fast!
Freedom!
Darkness holds
no bounds
to one
such as she,
whistling breezes
fly thru tufts;
mouth open
in a parody of a grin;
hot breath clouds
to night crisped air..
Run!
Run fast!
Freedom!
No mate to call her own
she revels in her self
as instinct drives her...
Hunt down
and hunt fast..
Wooded forests
hold no threat,
nor any creature -
not even human,
as she runs!
Run fast!
To Freedom!
