The Solemn Tale of a Frog and a Pen

I have a frog that sits on my pen.
She doesn’t move, only stares at me when
I pick my pen up when I want to write,
And as my thoughts leave me, she jumps into flight.
I have a frog on my pen that can fly.
She’s usually gone by the time I walk by—
But when the mood’s right, every now and then
She’ll be the writer, as she sits on my pen.
Now reader, I know that you think it odd
That a whole poem would revolve around a frog
But if I don’t write as she does please,
She sticks out her tongue at me and she leaves.
The pen comes from a land far away
My best friend brought it to me one day
And she said, “Kelly, I bought this Frog-Pen in Peru
Maybe since you’re a writer, she can help you
And take no offence, but I reckon it’s true
This frog is a much better writer than you.”
Author's Notes: I like frogs. Whoooooo-hoo.
