My Own Path

Age Group: Adult
Scared of what is to become of me,
Will they only see what they want to see?
Will they accept the fact
That I’ve changed and I am not going back.
Or will they just discriminate against me
Like they’ve done many times to the ones that are free.
To chose their own path of right
To fight against the ones that want to fight
Them who follow their own intuition
It is their mission.
Their will to follow the old ways
Sometimes I feel like I’m in a maze.
Caught between the Christianity of my family
To the Wiccan of my future days.
It haunts me at night
Will they ever see the light?
The light which has shown me great kindness
The mother earth, her Highness.
I bear the symbol of the Triquetra
To help me in the form of protection
Against those who are not for
What they believe to be the core
Of every religion.
But not for me, not for us
Those of us who have chosen another way
Who have chosen to do as they may.
To my family: this is me, who I really am
To accept this would be a great decision
If not, then it is their own vision
To ruin me and all that I have become
Only to satisfy themselves, to think their right
In the way they think and act
Towards us that are Wiccans.
I now realize through this, that I must fight
For my right
To chose my own life
And live it that way
From day to day.
Author's Notes: I am having difficulties with how I am going to tell my family that I have gone from their way of life to being Wiccan. If someone can help me with this situation I would greatly appriciate it.
