What is a woman?

by Anniekate
 Age Group: Adult

What is a woman And what makes you think you understand one? They are a mystery Before the supposedly perfect woman There was Lilith Not a slave Nor obedient to a man Nor a god either Morgan le Fay Destroyed a kingdom Witch and whore Legends and lies Created by a short sighted male species She is your mother Your sister Your aunt, grandmother Lover Friend Destroy her and she will rise again Like a warrior of old A phoenix out of hell Burn her Look at her lying dormant Under the layer of ash Or is she? She comes up better than before Stronger Powerful Cross her Suffer a woman’s wrath Cherish her She will be your soul mate forever Please her And she will give back more than you give Love her She will remain at your side ‘Til the day you die Love her as a woman Not a slut She will brag of you To everyone she knows Her friends, jealous But a man does not understand a woman He is unable to comprehend Her magic The seductive way in which she moves And speaks The healing power of her warmth No, a man does not understand Never will Until he walks in her path Won’t appreciate her Until he can bear her children Won’t know the depths of her love Until he can be by her side in sickness In health In death Won’t understand her soul Unless he loves like she does What man truly knows a woman? No man Face her Creator Only then will you understand And grieve For not being human enough To make the attempt to know her Why you lost her to another more willing to learn Who had the capacity Willing to sacrifice the ancient, perverse vision of woman To worship at her altar To know what she really is Goddess Partner Not inferior Perfect compliment to a man His other half of his heart His spirit For woman was taken out of man In the very beginning Not to be a slave Treated as less than man Her feminine mystique robbed To serve her master To bear his sons May such a man Be forever annihilated By woman And her daughters She is to be treasured More valuable and priceless Than any kingdom Gold, silver or fleeting power What man would be willing to do this? Would he lay down his life for her? Would he revere her? Trust, respect Live with her as his equal? Know that he cannot rule without her? No, man does not know Only another woman truly understands Woman
Author's Notes: I wrote this one after dealing with an especially difficult member of the male species who felt women had their place...and not in a place that would bring honor to a woman, but degrade her. I needed to write what I felt a woman was and was not.
