Do the Gods Exist?

Nothing truly exists as we say it does, but exists independently of any conceptualizing, naming, describing, or differentiating on our part. There is no true boundary between anything, therefore nothing can be said to exist. There is only an undifferentiated mass of all things and everything, which in a sense is the same as nothing.
But we differentiate and draw boundaries because it is of value to us. Therefore we should ask not whether a thing exists, but whether and how it is valuable to distinguish the thing.
This too, then, with the gods. Let us ask not whether they exist, for they do or do not as much as we do or do not, or this cup does or does not. Let us ask rather whether and how it is valuable for us to distinguish the gods among this great, vast, and beautiful thing we call experience.

As a Naturalistic Pagan, I believe in evidence. There is no evidence that deities and magic are "real" in the most literal sense, but they may yet be moving and powerful. These poems are a tribute to the inspiration of Pagan ways.
