Fearlessly

As time drudges forward my thoughts linger in the past
How do I know which direction to take?
Do I follow my heart and move through time with these new events?
Or do I stay behind and revel in my past mistakes?
To the outsider, the answer seems obvious, I am sure
But to the very depths of me, I cannot find the answer
It appears that I am torn
Torn between two times; two realities
Unable to move… unable to grow
Merely because time does not stand still
Erasing it seems to be not an option as well…
So where from this point on do I go?
Absently I ponder the universe and it’s vastness
Hoping that this will take me away from my own troubles
But as always, something draws me back and I am left alone with my thoughts
My worries of my life and who I have yet to become
Will it matter?
Can I change?
Everything I seem to be is because of who I once was
And everything I long to be is because of everything I have yet to accomplish
Perhaps that is the answer
The balance between the two
Coming to terms with who I was and who I am now becoming
Understanding that this place of intermission is merely a time of reflection
A moment so brief as to grasp my humanity and to embrace it
A glimpse at wisdom through the eyes of a young soul
So as to comprehend all that is true in this second
And to move forward fearlessly
