Balance

I never really understood my connection to the moon
I just knew that I longed for her
Waited for her
Embraced her
It wasn’t until that flash of knowledge
That moment of insight…
When I learned of the Goddess
She had been ignored by me and so many others
For far too long
Throughout my childhood I was loved by the God
But never quite realized why there was a hole in my heart…
Always feeling like something in the equation was missing
And now I know why
She has balanced the scale and filled my heart
She has become all that was missing in my soul
I cannot imagine a time now, where I did not speak to her
Did not think of her, or thank her
It seems odd that it took so long to find her
The God is still a part of me, don’t misunderstand…
He is just allowing this time for me to become acquainted with her
Waiting until the moment when they can balance as one
I spent much time with him growing into the person I am today
I have much to thank him for as well
In a swirl of joy, I embrace them both and welcome them into my heart
My soul sings for them
My heart beats for them
And I am complete
Author's Notes: This reads more like a short story than a poem, but I felt the need to post it anyway... I hope you don't mind!
