Once Upon a Time

When I close my eyes
I see things as they were
Long, dark hallways
Softly lit rooms
Music of some kind, always seems to be playing from—somewhere
Shadows that dance along the walls
Cast astray from the fire
Always it will burn
Forever
For eternity
The creaking of steps
Chanting of songs
Echoing through the walls
A mysterious glow from under every door
A brief chill that brushes past you
You shiver, then it's gone
What is this place?
Are you wondering?
It is THE place
All your fears
All your dreams
Everything
Author's Notes: During my childhood years, I was the only one in our family drawn to the mysterious... And to me, it held all that I hoped for and yet all that I was afraid of. As I grew older, that has always stayed with me. This is what I see when start to dream.
