A Praise for my Body Abstract

Age Group: Adult
Two quarter moons, waxing, waning;
I, between right and left celestial halves, earrings;
axis, my head, a whole world unto itself.
My shirt, a Pink Floyd galaxy;
jeans, the seven seas;
shoes, bedrock;
all beneath a tall, sultry core.
Invaded, journey to the center
of my Neptune;
I laugh, you cannot fathom
why.
My eyes, they see like a God’s;
breasts, small ranges scaled and climbed;
ears listen to the wind whistle;
waist, slim gravitational pull.
Like wild Niagara falls is Aquafina, down
my throat swallows
as I read, an earthquake consuming
another page, Nefertiti’s Egypt in other eras.
My back, gliding grassy plains;
legs, 20, 000 leagues below, continental divide;
mouth, geyser, an English ode to evolution;
hands, molding clay like flesh.
Untamed disaster au natural;
spirit like stray onions in a field, try to get to the real middle,
if you can,
but in the end shy away from ancient volcanic flows.
Author's Notes: I wrote this when I was wearing dark blue jeans and my Pink Floyd tee shirt in Geology class.
