City Abstract

Downtown’s lurching
metal bullets
veer down dimly
lit streets and
the night crowd
rides them, their
lank, greasy
hair flipped back
with flailing,
bony hands, and
I see that Springfield’s
dusk is a half lit
tunnel seen from
within a great fish.
Author's Notes: Yep--I was trying to be "dramatic." And in my advanced poetry course, there was also said this: "One sentence poems are the most difficult to write." I agree, but I think it depends on the sentence... well, yeah, it depends on the sentence, but also the arrangement, etc. I think I fished me a winner, though. *shruggz* Turns out my workshop poetry class had nothing to say about it. *s*
